Application procedure
- Decide on a subject and obtain information about it (in particular subject-specific information on the early study websites or research on the websites of the subjects for the corresponding Bachelor's degree programmes).
- Estimate the amount of work involved: What about making up lessons? How can you organise your journey?
- Compile your application documents and obtain all the necessary signatures (school management, parents/guardians).
- Remember to submit your application on time. If something is missing despite good planning on your part, be sure to hand in the completed application form signed by all parties, your cover letter, your CV and all other available documents by the deadline.
- Send the application to: Begabungspsychologische Beratungsstelle der JMU Würzburg, Röntgenring 10, 97070 Würzburg (NO registered mail).
- Once we have received your complete application documents, you will promptly receive an invitation to a gifted psychology test.
- The test takes place in a group of approx. 10-15 people in the morning (duration approx. 2.5 hours).
- Our tip: Bring something to eat and drink with you.
- You will then be invited to an interview (lasting approx. 45 minutes) with the specialist mentor of your chosen subject and a trained psychological specialist.
- The interview takes place between mid-February and the end of March for applications in the summer semester and between mid-June and the end of July for applications in the winter semester.
- During the interview, we will assess whether it is possible for you as an early student to participate in the relevant regular courses at JMU and whether you have the necessary prior knowledge. We will also advise you on course selection and provide you with initial information about starting an early degree programme in this subject.
- At the end of the admission interview, you will usually receive verbal information about the admission decision. In rare cases, we may ask for time to obtain further information (e.g. consultation with your school and/or your legal guardians).
- Your school will then be informed by us in writing.
- Admission is valid for one semester. A re-application is required to continue the early study programme in a subsequent semester.
- Consider (together with your parents and your school) whether you want to continue your early studies in your current subject. Has your early learning programme settled in with your school lessons? Do you still enjoy the subject? Does your time management fit?
- Meet with your subject mentor to discuss your choice of courses for the new semester. As a rule, the end of the lecture period of the previous semester is a good time for this meeting.
- Put together the documents for your reapplication.
- Remember to submit them on time. If something is missing despite good planning on your part, be sure to hand in the completed and signed application form and all other available documents by the deadline.
- Send the application to: Begabungspsychologische Beratungsstelle der JMU Würzburg, Röntgenring 10, 97070 Würzburg (NO registered mail).
