WISNA Program

With the comprehensive introduction of the tenure-track professorship, the University of Würzburg is creating attractive prospects and reliable development opportunities for outstanding academics in early career phases on the path to a lifetime professorship.

Human Resources Development closely supports the junior professors appointed as part of the federal-state programme for the promotion of young academics (WISNA) in their qualification process, in accordance with the tenure-track regulations and based on their individual development priorities.

Support during the qualification phase

On the path to a permanent professorship, decisive milestones are reached during the qualification phase that enable continuous professional development. The University's tenure-track regulations define four central areas of development as a benchmark for professional advancement, which provide orientation during this phase:

  1. Research

  2. teaching

  3. Promotion of junior researchers, own personnel management skills and further training

  4. Committee work and academic commitment

We support junior professors in developing these areas in a targeted manner. Through counselling, further training, spaces for reflection and networking opportunities, we create structures that enable them to actively engage with their own development and make the qualification phase transparent, plannable and skills-oriented.

Our offers

Individual counselling and support

We offer personal counselling and individual support in all phases of tenure-track qualification. The focus is on reflecting on your own development, clarifying strategic steps and developing leadership, counselling and junior staff development skills.

Impulses & dialogue in the Junior Professorship Forum

The Junior Professorship Forum offers space for dialogue and knowledge transfer twice a year. In keynote speeches and discussion panels with experts, central topics of the tenure track phase are highlighted and questions from the field are discussed together.

Peer coaching (collegial case counselling)

At regular intervals, we offer the opportunity to take part in peer coaching in small groups. You will work on specific professional issues from the tenure track phase, exchange experiences and develop practical solutions.

Reflection and networking in the retreat

In our retreats, we provide you with a space for dialogue, self-reflection and strategic planning. You reflect on your development, review your goals and make any necessary adjustments. At the same time, the retreats strengthen your networking and collaboration within the tenure track community.
