Culture of Welcome and Onboarding
The University of Würzburg is strengthening its welcoming culture. Personnel development creates the necessary conditions for systematic university-wide onboarding.
University-wide onboarding works towards professional familiarisation, integration and identification in/with existing teams and structures. It is the final step in a successful personnel recruitment strategy that ensures long-term success.
The aim of all measures is to enable new employees to quickly and efficiently get to work by creating an appreciative atmosphere, structured and standardised processes and a welcoming culture - to give them orientation and a framework in which they can develop in their new working environment. Uncertainties are reduced, motivation and confidence in the new workplace are strengthened.
In 2024, HR Development initiated the "Onboarding" project group, which carries out analyses and develops measures for systematic onboarding. Representative feedback groups are also used depending on requirements. These assess measures and provide more precise impetus. HR Development and Organisational Development moderate the processes and network relevant stakeholders.
HR Development develops onboarding tools for managers, such as checklists for administrative preparation, induction guidelines and structured feedback sessions. It organises networking events (e.g. mentoring programmes, welcome days) and advises managers on all aspects of onboarding, cross-boarding and offboarding.
