Presentation of the concept for the Apophis Interceptor Mission at the Apophis T-4 Workshop in Tokyo 2025.

The concept for the Apophis Interceptor Mission, developed within the NEAlight project, was presented at this year's Apophis T-4 Workshop in Tokyo.

The mission concept envisions the deployment of two identical 16U small satellites in highly elliptical Earth orbits to study the near-Earth asteroid (99942) Apophis during its close approach in 2029. The mission aims to both collect scientific data to characterize the asteroid and demonstrate critical technologies for future deep-space missions utilizing small satellite platforms.

The mission concept will be examined from May 2025 in a Phase A study as part of an extension of the NEAlight project.
