Information for students
What is GSiK all about?
Living together in an open, culturally diverse society is increasingly challenged by simplistic and marginalising views. In the Global Systems and Intercultural Competence (GSiK) project at the University of Würzburg, you can take an academic look at cultural diversity. You will develop an understanding of different realities of life and scrutinise your perspective on the world. Forms of discrimination such as racism, anti-Semitism, ableism, sexism and queerophobia and their interdependencies will also be examined. Last but not least, it is about the awareness of a global responsibility that obliges us to live sustainably and fairly. The interdisciplinary programme invites you to think outside the box of your field of study. The programme is open to students at the University of Würzburg
Participation in the GSiK programme does not require general registration. The events are open to students from all departments and degree programmes, from the first semester to doctoral level. Registration for the seminars and workshops usually takes place via WueStudy, for lectures you can usually come along without registering!
Seminars:
Many different departments open some seminars for you via the GSiK programme. Take a look at our calendar or search for #GSiK on WueStudy. Our programme thrives on interdisciplinarity!
Therefore, it is also a prerequisite for the "Intercultural Competence" certificates to have taken part in a non-subject-specific course. We would like to encourage you to attend seminars for this purpose - this is the best way to experience the culture of the subject!
Does your department itself offer events for GSiK? Then you are lucky enough to be able to attend these regularly for your degree programme and have them credited towards a GSiK certificate at the same time!
The lecturer determines whether and to what extent an examination must be taken for a seminar to be recognised as a GSiK point.
We offer a few seminars from the GSiK team ourselves. You can find them on WueStudy in our "Seminars" tab. These can usually also be credited to your degree programme via the ASQ area (BA degree) and the free area (teaching degree). You may therefore also be able to collect ECTS points.
Workshops:
Registration is usually required for workshops, as capacities are lower. Register in good time!
You can find our workshops on WueStudy in our "Workshops" tab.
Lectures:
You can usually just come to our lectures without registering! Some cooperation partners require registration, which is then visible in the announcement.
You can find our lectures on WueStudy, in our "Lectures" tab.
Online participation lists
Participation is usually booked via our online participation lists. At the end of the event, you will be shown a presentation slide with a QR code and password. This will take you to our WueCampus portal, where you can register on the relevant participation list.
Can't find your event here? Please do not hesitate to send us an email to gsik@uni-wuerzburg.de.
Event overview
We recommend that you collect the events you have attended in the event overview . This allows you to keep track of how many events you have already attended and which areas you are still missing.
Would you like us to provide you with an overview? Then please send us an email to gsik@uni-wuerzburg.de
