Family service

Flexible Notfallbetreuung

With its flexible emergency childcare service, the Family Service – initiated and supported by the Office of the University Women’s Representative – is providing a supplementary childcare option for situations in which regular childcare is unavailable at short notice or cannot be utilised.

The service is launching as a pilot project, initially limited until February 2029, in order to assess actual demand, gather experience and develop the service further in line with needs.

The focus is on reliable, child-centred and pedagogically responsible care that provides a safe and supportive environment even in exceptional circumstances.

In this way, the university aims to make a further contribution to helping people balance family and work life.

JMU Family Meet-up:

A relaxed get-together for emergency childcare

A warm welcome to our JMU Family Meet-up – from now on, we’ll be opening our doors once or twice a month.

It’s not just a cosy meeting place, but also the ideal base for our flexible emergency childcare. Here, your children can get to know our carers in a relaxed setting, whilst you’re there as a safe haven. This helps the children build trust in advance, making the separation much easier and less stressful for your child should an emergency arise.
