    CU Fluorescence Imaging

    Services

The Core Unit provides access to modern fluorescence-based imaging techniques with support from experts at the equipment centre.

    Services

We offer support in microscopy and data analysis. This includes

    • Equipment training and technical support (tailored to the project to be carried out)
    • Software training for image analysis

In addition, we support you in project planning, especially in

    • Assay development, particularly with regard to fluorescence labelling Sample preparation
    • Selection of the microscopy method and measurement plan

At two powerful workstations, we help with

    • Training in the image analysis software offered (Fiji, Huygens, Imaris, Ilastik, Symphotime)
    • Evaluation and automation of processes, e.g. by creating an ‘evaluation pipeline’
    • Creating images and videos for presentations and publications

    Please note

Before using our microscopes for the first time, laser beam safety training is mandatory and must be repeated annually. We offer this training on a regular basis. If you do not participate, we will unfortunately have to exclude you from using the equipment for safety reasons.

    Application examples

    • 3D cell imaging → confocal microscopy
    • Intravital microscopy → two-photon microscopy
    • Organ imaging → light sheet microscopy
    • Cell migration → video microscopy
    • Tracking membrane receptors → total internal reflection fluorescence microscopy (TIRF)
    • Super-high-resolution cell architecture → dSTORM, meSTORM
    • Protein dynamics and interaction → time-resolved fluorescence (FCS, FLIM; FRET, FRAP)
