University Tent 2025

From May 29 to June 1, 2025, the Forum Africa Centre was once again be represented with the university tent at Europe's largest and oldest festival for African music and culture. The University Tent of the Julius-Maximilian University of Würzburg (JMU) has been an integral part of the Africa Festival for more than 15 years.

In the tent, the Forum Africa Centre presented a selection of the many Africa-related projects of Julius-Maximilians-Universität (JMU) Würzburg, including the extended exhibition "Würzburg and Colonialism: Yesterday? Today!" and banners commemorating the 140th anniversary of the Berlin Africa Conference ("Congo Conference"). Visitors also found information on projects in geography, botany, economics, radio astronomy in Africa, the Planetary Health working group and the Else Kröner Center Würzburg – Mwanza. The JMU alumni network presented “Voices of African Guests Scientists”, representing the breadth of cooperation with African partners.

Numerous visitors to the Africa Festival came to the university tent and talked to members of the Africa Center Forum about the exhibition. We were also able to welcome many visiting academics, doctoral students and Erasmus students from partner countries such as Egypt. Among the guests were the Cameroonian historian Prof. Alexandre Kum'a Ndumbe III and the Chancellor of the University, Dr. Uwe Klug.
