Due to their multifaceted and tunable properties, molecular boron compounds are promising building blocks for numerous applications that range from chemical synthesis and materials science to medicine and pharmacy. Surprisingly, this broad potential has remained mostly unexplored as molecular boron compounds are most often used solely as synthetic intermediates from which the boron unit is lost in the course of the reaction. Chemotion workshop takes over BORONPro

Over 60 researchers from the BORONPro consortium and the chemistry faculty took part this week in a two-day Chemotion workshop at the University of Würzburg

Chemotion (https://chemotion.net/), an open-source electronic lab journal developed by NFDI4Chem (https://nfdi4chem.de/) and KIT and funded by the DFG, streamlines chemical research from planning to publishing, and will be integral to the collaboration within the BORONPro project.

The workshop, run by four trainers, was very well received by the participants, who gained a deep understanding of the tool, how it can be used for collaboration and its role in FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) publication practises.
