brainLight® - Shiatsu massage chair with audiovisual stimulation
In keeping with the Healthy University's motto for the year, "Take Care", four brainLight Shiatsu massage chairs with audio-visual stimulation (via headphones and glasses) are available until October. Students and employees of the University of Würzburg can use the systems free of charge and enjoy Shiatsu back massages in combination with light and sound deep relaxation.
Within a booked time slot of one hour, you can choose from a variety of programs lasting between 10 and 40 minutes: Unfortunately, the programs are not available in English. English-speaking employees and students have the opportunity to listen to the introductory program ("Einführungsprogramm") in English and other languages. In addition, there are music programs ("Musikgenuss") that can be used or the massage chair can be used without headphones.

The booked time slot is sufficient to arrive in peace, select programs and leave relaxed.
Scientific support
The massage systems are designed to enable students and employees at JMU to have a more enjoyable, relaxed working day. Prof. Dr. Anne Böckler-Raettig is conducting an accompanying study to better understand how the applications work, when and for whom. There will be a QR code on site that will redirect you to the corresponding survey (approx. 2-5 minutes). If you would like to take part, simply scan the code before using it!
Rooms and booking calendar
A relaxation session can be booked free of charge in the following buildings and rooms (signposted on site):
- John-Skilton-Straße 4a, Personal development, 3rd floor (if arriving by car, use the parking spaces in Oswald-Külpe-Weg: Footpath to John-Skilton-Straße between houses 84 and 85)
- DZPP, Klara Oppenheimer Weg 38, 1st floor:
- Two further brainLight systems are used for internal relaxation and research purposes at the GSLS and the medical teaching clinic.
Contraindications
Please note the following contraindications: If you are epileptic or wear a pacemaker, enjoy the application without visualization glasses. If you have acute severe back pain, suffer from osteoporosis, weigh over 120 kg or even have a thrombosis, choose a program without massage. If you are pregnant, only enjoy treatments without visualization glasses and without massage.
