University Heritage Museum

625 years of research, knowledge and change

To mark the 625th anniversary of Julius-Maximilians-Universität, the University Heritage Museum (MUG) is being built in the historic vaults of the Old University, right in the heart of the city, by 2027.

Here, under the motto "Knowledge. Change. Truths.", the rich history of one of Europe's oldest universities will be brought to life: from its beginnings in the late Middle Ages to the present day.

Our guests can expect exciting exhibits that show how science has shaped - and continues to shape - Würzburg and the world over the centuries.

The new university museum is taking shape thanks to the dedication of many people with their many voices, memories and perspectives.
