Modalities of participation

  • The Unitag is aimed at particularly talented and motivated pupils in grade 11 at grammar schools in Lower Franconia, and also at grammar schools in Middle or Upper Franconia in consultation with the respective MB departments.
  • The selection is made at the suggestion of the school by the ministerial representative for the grammar schools in the respective administrative district. The school headmasters must submit their proposals to the MB office by the deadline (usually at the end of the second school week in the new school year for a winter semester, usually in mid-March for a summer semester). Interested students must therefore contact their school management; JMU itself is not involved in the selection of participants.
  • Participation takes place for one semester on Fridays during the lecture period of the semester. An exception is the last week of lectures, when examinations are already being held for regular students in many subjects.
  • The school management grants the student leave of absence from lessons at the school. Attendance at courses at JMU takes place in addition to lessons at school and is a school event. The extent to which school lessons may be cancelled is decided by the school.
  • Lessons that have been cancelled will be made up by the Unitag participants themselves. The school may require additional work, e.g. the writing of presentations. Details will be agreed with the subject teacher and the school management.
