Grants and Non-Financial Support for Medical Students

In an effort to increase the availability of medical professionals in rural areas of Bavaria, the Bavarian State Ministry of Health and Care has launched an initiative that awards grants to medical students who are in the third year of their programme or beyond and are willing to spend some time working as a medical practitioner in rural Bavaria after they have completed their medical training.

Awardees will receive a monthly payment of €600. In addition to financial support, the initiative gives awardees the opportunity to attend interactive seminars that will equip them with additional knowledge and skills they will find useful in their future careers.

The maximum grant period is 48 months. Awarding of grants is on conditions including that awardees spend at least 60 months working as medical practitioners in rural Bavaria after they have completed their specialist training.
