The Deutschlandstipendium Scholarship
The Deutschlandstipendium scholarship programme is aimed at all talented students irrespective of their nationality or social background. The principal selection criterion is achievement at school or university or in the workplace, but other accomplishments are taken into consideration as well. Jointly funded by the German Federal Government and private funders, the scholarship is designed to provide an incentive for individuals to pursue an academic degree and help them meet their financial needs while at university.

What is the aim of the programme?
The Deutschlandstipendium scholarship programme is designed to reward talented students for outstanding academic achievement. With the programme, the German Federal Government is laying the foundations for a new scholarship culture in Germany. The Government encourages university graduates, businesses, foundations, and other potential funders to help support high-achieving students.
Who is eligible?
The programme is open to students of all nationalities who are enrolled in a programme at a higher education institution in Germany and have demonstrated a potential for outstanding academic achievement. In addition to exceptional accomplishments in school and/or at university, selection criteria include a commitment to the community (volunteering, commitment to a political or religious cause, etc.) and a commitment to helping others (family members or other individuals in need). Awards will also be made based on any obstacles applicants have had to overcome due to their family or cultural background.
The Deutschlandstipendium scholarship provides financial and non-financial support to high achieving and committed students from all over the world. Using a public-private partnership approach, businesses, foundations, or private funders provide scholarship holders with a monthly allowance of €150. The German Federal Government contributes another €150 per month. In addition, many universities and private funders offer mentoring programmes, networking events, or work placement opportunities for scholarship holders.
Doctoral studies cannot be funded.
| In 2025, a total of 66 scholarship recipients (including 47 new recipients) were selected at the university. The certificates were presented on 10 December 2025 at the Mozartareal in Würzburg. |
