New JMU service: Chemotion electronic lab notebook

12/01/2023

Since the beginning of the winter semester 2023/2024, scientists at JMU can use the electronic notebook Chemotion ELN for their work in the laboratory.

Chemotion ELN is an Open Source electronic lab notebook (ELN) especially designed for scientists working in chemistry and related disciplines. It was developed at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and is constantly updated in collaboration with the NFDI4Chem consortium. The web-based application allows the acquisition, management, storage, processing, and sharing of research data. A central subject-specific feature of Chemotion ELN is the use of molecular structures as an organizing principle.

The IT Centre of the JMU operates a central installation of Chemotion ELN on the local server infrastructure, which is available to all JMU scientists. Thus the JMU is the first university to make Chemotion ELN available university-wide beyond the level of working groups and institutes. Chemotion ELN was set up in close cooperation with the Faculty of Chemistry.

Information on the terms of use and the access for JMU members can be found at the following link: https://www.rz.uni-wuerzburg.de/en/dienste/forschung-digital/electronic-lab-notebooks/
