Warm Welcome to Prof. J. N. Moorthy

The Institute of Organic Chemistry is honored to welcome Prof. Jarugu Narasimha Moorthy as a guest professor for a one-month visit from 16 September to 15 October 2026. During his stay, Prof. Moorthy will have his office at the Center for Nanosystems Chemistry (CNC). He will be pleased to engage in scientific discussions with colleagues from the Department of Chemistry and Pharmacy and to develop new ideas and collaborations with members of the IRTG 2991 program.

On 29 September 2026 Prof. Moorthy will receive an honorary doctoral degree from Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg as a highlight of the next IRTG hybrid workshop with guest speaker Prof. Werner Nau from Constructor University Bremen. Prof. Moorthy is professor at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur and the former Director of the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram (IISER TVM). He has made significant contributions to the establishment of IRTG 2991 by initiating a Dual Doctoral Degree Programme and by facilitating student exchange between IISER TVM and JMU. His research interests lie in supramolecular materials chemistry and organic photochemistry, with a particular focus on the development of novel photochromic and emitter materials based on helicenes.
