On January 29th and 30th, 2026, the IRTG 2991 hosted a hybrid specialized workshop on “Theoretical Chemistry with a Focus on Electronic Structure” at the University of Würzburg.

The International Research Training Group (IRTG) 2991 hosted a hybrid scientific workshop on January 22-23, 2026, at IISER Thiruvananthapuram.

With her lecture on Exploring Functional Landscapes in Molecular Aggregates: Theoretical Methods for Electronic Structure and Property-Driven Design (GDCh Kolloquium Unterfranken, 13.11.2025) CNC Junior Group Leader Dr. Merle Röhr successfully finished her habilitation.

From Oct. 21-25 a large number of scientists from IRTG 2991 attended the 13th Asian and Oceanian Photochemistry Conference (APC) in Kochi, organized by K. George Thomas and his team from IISER Thiruvananthapuram.

Getting Indo-German research projects off the ground: This is the aim of a joint programme of the Indian Ministry of Education and the German Federal Foreign Office. The University of Würzburg is represented with two projects.

The International Research Training Group (IRTG) 2991 hosted its second hybrid scientific workshop on August 25–26, 2025, at IISER Thiruvananthapuram.

From July 20th to 24th, 2025, Jibin S., a PhD student in the group of Prof. Mahesh Hariharan at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Thiruvananthapuram, visited the University of Würzburg.

On 26th and 27th of May 2025 Prof. Johannes Gierschner from the Madrid Institute for Advanced Studies, IMDEA Nanoscience, Spain, visited the University of Würzburg. He participated as a guest-expert in a workshop of the IRTG 2991 on “Luminescence in Molecular Solid-State Materials”.

From 25.02. – 28.02.2025, four months after the official start of the International Research Group 2991, the involved PIs and PhD students from India and Germany came together on the beautiful campus of IISER Thiruvananthapuram for a Start-up Meeting.

Frank Würthner and his Indian colleague Mahesh Hariharan were invited to present their joint Research Training Group at an anniversary celebration in Delhi.
