The Parents' Council (Elternbeirat = EB) is to a certain extent the "mouthpiece" of the entire parent body. At the monthly EB meetings, it discusses current topics with the daycare centre management and, if necessary, with the operating company. Activities are planned and organised during the meetings. The EB meetings are generally open to the public and all parents are welcome to attend.

The EB informs:

  • via the e-mail distribution list. An agenda and minutes are drawn up for each EB meeting; the agenda is also displayed on the whiteboard in the entrance area
  • At the beginning of the Children's House year, a report is given at a parents' evening and an accountability report is prepared
  • about the children's centre and about special activities organised by the EB at the CKH

Together with the team, the EB organises various festivals and events at the children's house over the course of the calendar year. For example, St Martin's Day, garden events, summer parties, accompanying children on excursions and organising projects in cooperation with the university, e.g. laboratory visits.

The EB consults closely with the children's centre team and the provider on:

  • Closing days and opening hours
  • annual planning
  • Organisation of information and educational events for parents
  • Determining the amount of parental contributions
  • staffing changes
