Objectives

The Coordinating Office for Diversity provides advice and support to all JMU staff members and students about issues relating to equal opportunities and anti-discrimination. It serves as a hub for all of the University's internal initiatives that are aimed at fostering diversity and ensuring that our students and teachers as well as our research and administrative staff can learn and work in an environment that is free from discrimination. The objective of our work is to help build a culture of mutual respect and appreciation at our University.

Diversity enriches. That is why we align our actions with all dimensions of diversity. Our commitment has now been rewarded with the award of the “Vielfalt gestalten” certificate.

Take part now and raise awareness of discrimination in Germany:

The Federal Anti-Discrimination Agency is conducting its largest ever survey on discrimination in Germany, which will run until 28 February 2026.

Anyone aged 14 or over who has experienced discrimination in Germany can take part in the survey. Participation is anonymous, accessible and available in many formats and languages.

All the important information and the online questionnaire can be found here.

Thank you to everyone who took part in the diversity climate survey over the summer and shared their ideas and needs with us and the Diversity Working Group of the Faculty of Human Sciences.

We are delighted to have received 1352 responses and are now entering the evaluation phase.
