Advisory board
The steering group of the Healthy University is supported by an advisory board. The advisory board consists of 3-5 people who are distinguished by their scientific or professional expertise in health management, health promotion, or other relevant disciplines.
Dr. Ulrich Birner
Dr. Birner is a certified psychologist specializing in organizational and occupational psychology and behavioral therapy. Until 2021, he was a member of a central department at Siemens AG responsible for group-wide technical governance for environmental protection, health management, and occupational safety. In this role, he was involved in setting up a global health management system and was responsible for all programs and measures to promote, prevent, and restore mental health at work. He currently supports organizations as a consultant in setting up and developing a holistic, integrated health and occupational safety management system and the corresponding corporate culture.
Prof. Dr. Verena C. Haun
Prof. Haun has been Professor of Work and Organizational Psychology at Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg since October 2021. Prior to this, she was Junior Professor of Occupational Health Psychology at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. Her research focuses on the field of “work and health,” addressing the overarching question of how working people can remain healthy, engaged, and productive in their professional and private lives. In particular, she conducts research on recovery from work stress, the interplay and boundaries between work and private life, and mindfulness in the work context.

Matthias Nowak
Matthias Nowak has been head of the Office for Educational Assistance at the Würzburg Student Services Association since 1995 and deputy managing director of the Würzburg Student Services Association since 2005. The statutory task of the student services associations is to provide comprehensive financial and social support for students. In addition to operating cafeterias and cafés, managing student residences, and administering BAföG student loans, this also includes providing counseling services. The Würzburg Student Services Association maintains a social counseling service and a psychotherapeutic counseling center, where several qualified psychologists support and advise students with personal problems. The services offered include individual counseling, short-term and group therapy, and seminars on a wide variety of topics.
