New cooperation partner from Sri Lanka
02/24/2022PSE has established a new cooperation with the University of Peradeniya in Kandy, Sri Lanka, as part of the GoTEd programme.
As part of the DAAD project "Global Teacher Education" (GoTEd) of the Professional School of Education (PSE) at the University of Würzburg, a networking trip to the University of Peradeniya in Kandy has been organised. Dr Matthias Erhardt and Astrid Böhme, Managing Director and Coordinator of the Internationalisation of Teacher Education at PSE, were guests in Kandy from 7 to 12 February 2022 with the aim to exchange ideas with the project partners of teacher education at the University of Peradeniya and to gain an impression of the study conditions and cooperation opportunities on site.
Alongside meeting with colleagues from the educational sciences, a lecture by Matthias Erhardt and an exchange with students, an appointment was held with Prof. M.D. Lamawansa, Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya (see image), who welcomes a mutual exchange and sees the cooperation as a milestone in international exchange in teacher education. The local colleagues, in particular the Head of the Faculty of Arts, Dr Prabath Ekanayake, and Dr Walter Senevirathne, Head of the Department of Education, made a special effort to give their guests an insight not only into their university and their work, but also into the rich culture of Sri Lanka.
The agreed Memorandum of Understanding still has to be confirmed by the Sri Lankan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but exchange visits are already possible.
