Registering for a course

The registration for the German language courses is administered exclusively through the ZFS system, not through WueStudy. All relevant information about the registration process can be found on our homepage: www.uni-wuerzburg.de/en/zfs/sprachen/german-as-a-foreign-language/daf-news/

After registering you will receive an email with information on the next steps (placement test, course registration).

If you have already attended and successfully completed a German course at the ZFS, you do not need a placement test and can attend courses at the next higher level. If you have not successfully completed the course, you can repeat the course

No. If you have no prior knowledge of the language, you do not need to take a placement test. If you do have some rudimentary knowledge or if your studies took place a long time ago, you will have to take a placement test.

Please indicate in your pre-registration that you have prior knowledge of the language and at approximately what level. If you have a language certificate from another institution, please upload it when pre-registering. If necessary, you will receive the link to the placement test. Or we will place you directly into a language level based on your language certificate.

The placement test is not a language level test, it is used to assign you to our course system. The result therefore does not indicate your language level, but which of our courses or which level you can register for. The result does not have to match your subjective assessment (your wishes, expectations or past experiences).

You can only take courses at the ZFS at the level that was determined by your placement test. Please contact the International Office to change your Learning Agreement accordingly.

Yes, you can register for different courses at the same level. It is not possible to register for courses at different levels or for multiple parallel groups of the same course.

During the course (participation and examination)

No. Guest students cannot participate in our German language courses.

Regular attendance and active participation in the course are absolutely necessary. When learning a language, interaction among participants and with the teacher is essential to develop language skills.

No, exchange students do not need to register for the exam.

Upon completion of the course, you will receive a digital certificate with a grade and ECTS points for the course you passed. This will be sent to you by email.

If you attended the course regularly but did not take or pass the exam, you will receive a certificate of attendance without ECTS points.

The certificates of the ZFS are not officially recognized language certificates.

4 weeks after the end of the semester (in the case of face-to-face exams) corrected exams can be viewed in the Mediothek at the ZFS. Examination papers will not be handed out and no copies may be made. Please note the opening hours of the Mediothek:
