Ulrike Holzgrabe’s work focuses on the areas of teacher training as well as teaching and learning.
Ulrike Holzgrabe was born in 1956 in Wuppertal, Germany. From 1974 to 1982, she studied chemistry and pharmacy at the universities of Marburg and Kiel. The latter awarded her a doctorate (1983) and a Habilitation (1989).
Appointed to a professorship at the University of Bonn in 1990, Prof. Holzgrabe also held positions as a visiting professor in Erlangen and Illinois (USA). In Bonn, she also held the position of Vice-Rector for Teaching, Studies, and Study Reform (1997 - 1999) and served on the university’s board of trustees (2003 - 2007).
From 2004 to 2007, Prof. Holzgrabe served as President of the German Pharmaceutical Society (DPhG).
In 2001, she became a member of the German and European Pharmacopoeia Commissions. Prof. Holzgrabe has held the Chair of Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Chemistry at JMU since 1999.
From 2009 to 2011, she served as Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy. Prof. Holzgrabe took up her position as Vice-President of the University of Würzburg on 1 October 2018.
