Implementation in Courses

The refinement of face-to-face teaching through the use of instructional videos opens up a wide range of didactical possibilities, which – due to the inherent time restrictions of lecture units – are rarely feasible in traditional teaching settings. In one of the active plenary sessions offered by Prof. Dr. Christian Spannagel (Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science, Heidelberg University of Education), which are based on the framework developed by Erich Hammer, instructors can transfer the leadership of the seminar to the students. Together the students can then hold subject-specific discussions, or structure the course in more diverse ways through a wide variety of partner and group activities, such as Think-Pair-Share or JigSaw. In addition to these options, the implementation of a Story-Centered Curriculum or a sequence of self-discovery learning may be considered.
