EU Research Funding

HORIZON EUROPE (2021-2027) is the new European research and innovation framework programme. Its similarly structured as the previous framework programme Horizon 2020 and provides funding for basic and applied research projects, as well as projects developing research to marketable innovations.

The individual European Research Council (ERC) Grants and Marie-Sklodowska-Curie-Actions are both located in the programme's first pillar "Excellent Science".

A new funding instrument of Horizon Europe will be targeted research and innovation EU Missions in these five thematic areas:

• Adaptation to climate change including societal transformation
• Cancer
• Climate-neutral and smart cities
• Healthy oceans, seas, coastal and inland waters
• Soil health and food
