Our ESF-ZDEX Network for Digital Transformation & Connected Products offers you access to many different subject areas. These range from innovative technologies, predictive analytics and artificial intelligence to marketing your own web shop, social media and customer relationship management.
Network Manager Prof Dr Frédéric Thiesse
After graduating with a degree in business informatics from the University of Mannheim, Frédéric Thiesse worked as a research assistant to Prof Dr Hubert Österle at the Institute for Information Systems at the University of St. Gallen. There he obtained his doctorate in business administration with highest honours. After several years as head of software and method development at a Swiss technology start-up, he returned to the university. He was initially a junior lecturer and later assistant professor at the chair of Prof Dr Elgar Fleisch at the Institute of Technology Management at the University of St. Gallen, where he completed his habilitation in business administration, in particular information management. Prof Dr Frédéric Thiesse has held the Chair of Information Systems Engineering at the University of Würzburg since 2010.
His research interests lie in the areas of digitalisation of production, logistics and trade, research into analytical methods and systems, business model innovation through IT and research into emerging technologies such as AI and machine learning, IoT, 3D printing and blockchain.
His research has been published in numerous internationally renowned journals (including MIS Quarterly, Journal of Operations Management, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, Journal of Information Technology, European Journal of Information Systems, Journal of Strategic Information Systems). Prof. Dr Frédéric Thiesse has also received numerous awards for his work (including the Latsis Prize, EHI Science Prize, Stafford Beer Medal, AIS Award for Best Conference Paper in IS Education, other Best Paper Awards at ICIS, ECIS, WI Conference and other conferences).
As part of the ESF-ZDEX project, Prof Dr Frédéric Thiesse heads the Network for Digital Transformation & Networked Products.
Prof Dr Jana-Kristin Prigge, Deputy Network Manager
Prof Dr Jana-Kristin Prigge studied business administration at the University of Mannheim and the University of Hartford (USA). After completing her doctorate in marketing at the University of Mannheim, she worked for three years at Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt/Main. She then completed her habilitation at the University of Mannheim and conducted research at the Institute for the Study of Business Markets (ISBM) at Pennsylvania State University (USA).
Since 2019, she has headed the "Digital Marketing & E-Commerce" research group at Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg.
Her research focuses on digital marketing & sales, particularly in the areas of multi-channel management, user experience and social media. She also conducts research in the field of innovation management, in particular on organisational design approaches. Her research has been published in leading international journals (e.g. Journal of Marketing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, International Journal of Research in Marketing).
As part of the ESF-ZDEX project, Prof Dr Jana-Kristin Prigge and her team support the Network for Digital Transformation & Networked Products, which is headed by Prof Dr Frédéric Thiesse (Chair of Information Systems Engineering).
Peter Kowalczyk (M. Sc.)
Peter completed his bachelor's degree in economics and his master's degree in business informatics in Würzburg. He has been working as a research assistant at the University of Würzburg since October 2019. Until April 2020, he worked on a text mining research project at the Chair of Business Journalism. Since May 2020, he has been working at the Chair of Information Systems Engineering, focussing on deep learning. His research interests include synthetic data, generative adversarial networks, emotion AI and recommender systems.
In the ZDEX project, Peter supports the research and conception of new offers as well as the organisation of the Digital Transformation Network.
Simon Mütze (M. Sc.)
Simon completed his Bachelor's and Master's degree in economics at Leibniz Universität Hannover. During his master's degree, he also gained experience abroad at the UNCW (USA). Since April 2020, he has been a research assistant in Prof Dr Prigge's Digital Marketing & E-Commerce research group.
The ZDEX project supports Simon in the Digital Transformation and Networked Products network. In particular, he can contribute his research interests in the field of (digital) sustainability marketing.
Marco Röder (M. Sc.)
After completing his Bachelor's degree in Business Informatics at FHWS, Marco went on to study Business Informatics at the University of Würzburg. As a Master's student at the Digital Innovation Hub of the s.Oliver Group and as a working student at SSI Schäfer IT-Solutions GmbH, he already has some practical experience that he brings to the project. Marco has been working at the Chair of Information Systems Engineering since October 2019, focussing on edge intelligence. His research interests include machine learning, federated learning, emerging technologies and omnichannel retail.
For the ZDEX project, Marco works on research and knowledge transfer programmes.
Janine Rottmann (B. Sc.)
Janine Rottmann completed her Bachelor's degree in Economics and is currently completing her Master's degree in Information Systems at the University of Würzburg. She has been working as a research assistant at the Chair of Information Systems and Information Management since September 2020. She supports the ZDEX project with her experience in operations management and machine learning. The focus of her research is on simulation-based capacity planning in hospitals.
Kevin Schwehm (M. Sc.)
Kevin Schwehm has been a research assistant in Prof Dr Prigge's Digital Marketing & E-Commerce research group since April 2020. He previously completed a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration at the University of Mannheim and the ESSEC Business School in Paris and a Master's degree in Business Informatics at the University of Würzburg.
In the ZDEX project, Kevin Schwehm is the contact person for influencer marketing, e-commerce and search engine marketing (SEO, SEA/PPC). Companies can use these areas, for example, to generate relevant traffic for their own websites, build their own online reach, improve customer service and increase sales.
Steven Schwehm (M. Sc.)
After completing his Bachelor's degree in Business Informatics at the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt, Steven studied for a consecutive Master's degree at the University of Würzburg. Since June 2021, he has been a research assistant in the Digital Marketing & E-Commerce research group of Prof Dr Prigge. His research focuses on e-business, recommender systems and personalisation in e-commerce. Since 2017, Steven has also been the owner of an online marketing agency and advises SMEs on the development and implementation of online marketing strategies.
As part of the ZDEX project, Steven is the contact person for e-commerce systems and online marketing and supports the transfer of knowledge between research and practice.
