Several service centers within JMU offer counseling and coaching on different topics. You can always call them directly, if you know about the services. In case you you need orientation first the Academic Staff Development is supporting you in identifying the matching service center for your needs. Either we can help you with your issues directly or we know the people responsible within JMU and can get you in contact with them.

First contact

If you need individual support you are welcome to contact the Academic Staff Development at any time. During a first interview (via phone or face-to-face), we will discuss your current needs. Afterwards, we are going to evaluate together which steps and actions might be appropriate to reach your goals in the short, medium or long term. Possibly we are the right contact for you. Otherwise we will know the right person and get you in contact.

Defining your goals

Along the road, new dimensions of development might manifest, coachings or counseling with external experts may guide you on your way or we will identify a suitably mentor for your issues.

We don't want to provide strictly defined structures. Our aim is to focus on your individual situation with your particular needs and requirements. This is how we can figure out an individual development approach for you together.

SCIENTIA Coaching | Office of Women's Representative

SCIENTIA Coaching strengthens leadership competence on an individual basis and prepares female researchers for their first professorship. This process-oriented form of counseling encourages self reflection of all issues correlating with one's professional identity.
