Careers in industry and society

Many doctoral and postdoctoral researchers pursue career goals other than becoming a professor. This is why Julius-Maximilians-Universität attaches great importance to helping researchers explore alternative career options outside academia, e. g. in industry and society.

JMU assists early career researchers in the proactive management of their careers, providing a broad range of counseling and support services.

It encourages them to record the experiences and accomplishments they have made and the qualifications and skills they have acquired in a career portfolio. Regular Career Stage Meetings with their mentors or supervisors provide them with useful feedback and feedforward to aid their career decision making.

In addition, the university offers career coaching and organizes regular networking and information events.
