Social Innovators Challenge

In cooperation with the Service Centre for Science and Technology Transfer, the Career Centre is a key driver of entrepreneurial competence at the University of Würzburg. The Social Innovators Challenge that was born out of the societal challenges of the new twenties has become a flagship for competence acquisition, aiming to support students and employees with innovative, entrepreneurial ideas toward social change, better health and sustainability.

Students who would like to enter are asked to submit a short paper outlining the uniqueness, social benefits, market potential and feasibility of their innovation. After a screening process by the universities and the creation of a pitch video by the contestants, a jury will review their projects. Students and employees of Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg and Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg will be preferred as contestants but students and employees from other institutions are also welcome. To enter the challenge, at least one team member has to be immatriculated at one of the universities.

The Career Centre supports the contestants at every stage of the process, continuously helping them to strenghten their individual entrepreneurial competences. Another important building block of our work is the development of transversal competences. The contestants of the Social Innovators Challenge will round off the experience with a variety of new competences.
