    Dr. Matjaz Potrc, Slovenia

    1. Could you please describe your academic/ professional career in a few words?

I am full professor of philosophy at the Ljubljana University, Slovenia, teaching analytic philosophy and ethics, although my interests and engagements are much broader. My French government grant in early seventies allowed me to study with Julia Kristeva and Jacques Lacan in Paris. In eighties, I was AvH Stipendiant in Munich Germany with Wolfgang Stegmueller. In nineties I was Fulbright scholar at University of Memphis, where I studied Connecionism and philosophy of psychology. I wrote numerous books and articles, among them Austere Realism (MIT Press) with Terry Horgan. Currently I work on co-authored manuscript Space of Epistemic Reasons for Oxford UP. I established journal Acta Analytica, now Springer, and Bled international conferences.

    2. What do you find most fascinating about your home country?

Slovenia, my home country, has nice tourist environment: Alps, woods, lake, sea. Cultural life is interesting, especially in Ljubljana

    3. Do you have any experience regarding a scientific or economic exchange between your home country and countries of the European Union?

I had many connections with EU countries, such as Croatia, Austra, Germany, France, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic. In nineties I proposed and successfully accomplished TEMPUS project Phenomenology and Cognitive Science with Ljubljana, Mariborr, Graz, Trieste, Berlin, Wuerzburg, London. A book was published by Roell Verlag on these topics.

    4. What do you think about the importance of Alumni in terms of the cultural, academic and economic exchange?

Alumni exchange is important. I would be interested in an enhancement of cultural and (if possible) academic exchange.
