Training Program
The GRK 2243 offers a well structured training program in a scientific environment enabling research at an internationally competitive level. The training program is tailored to graduates holding a degree in the life sciences, especially in Biochemistry, Biology, Biomedicine or related fields.
The GRK 2243 will be affiliated with the section Biomedicine of the Graduate School of Life Sciences (GSLS), which is in turn part of the University of Würzburg Graduate Schools (UWGS). The GSLS is one of six life science-related graduate schools in Germany that were awarded financial support by the Excellence Initiative of the German Federal and State Governments. The GSLS offers a large number of workshops and courses on research-related topics as well as transferable skills for PhD students. These general training elements will be complemented by specific qualification activities tailored to the research program of the GRK 2243, including introductory courses in ubiquitin-related methods, lab visits, seminars, research schools, annual retreats and participation at international conferences.
All doctoral researchers of the GRK 2243 will follow an individual training plan containing compulsory and elective qualification elements, which is developed together with the thesis advisory committee. The qualification activities will not exceed a total of 5-6 hours per week per term. The language of the training program will be English.
