Visiting Scholars and Guest Professors
Besides constantly deepening its links with renowned universities around the globe and furthering international research collaborations, JMU places a high priority on creating an international campus. To foster exchange and cooperation with outstanding visiting researchers, JMU established the Siebold-Collegium – Institute for Advanced Studies (SCIAS) in 2016. Nearly ten percent of the university’s students and approximately seven percent of staff have an international background.
International students are supported by the services of the International Students Office, tutoring schemes, language courses, and projects for intercultural competence. JMU’s Welcome Centre offers assistance to international scientists in administrative and practical matters regarding their move to Würzburg.
Simultaneously, JMU promotes outgoing mobility by providing more than 1400 student exchange options at partner universities, including strategic partnerships with, e.g., UBC Vancouver, UT Austin, Peking University, U Caen, and TU Wrocław.
