    Application and admission for exchange students

    (Erasmus, partnership agreements, DAAD stipends, Fulbright, Coimbra Group Student Exchange Network (SEN), VDAC, Swiss European Mobility Programme, etc…)

    1. Application in and nomination by your home university

    For an exchange semester / year at the University of Würzburg, please first apply at your home university, which will nominate you officially via e-mail afterwards.

    Please consider our  language requirements for an admission.

    2. Online registration

    We will send you the link for online registration AFTER having received your nomination by your home university.

    Deadlines for online registration:

    • 15 June for the Winter term
    • 15 January for the Summer term
    • Please register as soon as possible and contact us if you cannot meet these deadlines!
    • ! Please note: Application deadline for a dormitory of „Studentenwerk“ is 15 June for Winter term and 15 January for Summer term! You won’t need the International Office’s admission letter for applying for a room!
    3. Admission

    You will receive our Letter of Admission for exchange studies at the University of Würzburg after your online registration. Together with this letter, we will send you all necessary information about studying & living in Würzburg.

    4. Enrolment

    You can enrol for studies after your arrival. Just come to our office as soon as possible; our staff and our tutors will give you a helping hand. You will receive your student ID card and semester ticket a few days after enrolment.

    Application and admission for Free Movers

    (exchange studies in Wuerzburg without a specific programme)

    Even if studying without an exchange programme, you can come to the University of Würzburg for one or two semesters as Free Mover.

    Germanistik als Fremdsprachenphilologie (German as foreign language),
    Pharmacy (state examination); Psychology (Bachelor)

    • Home universiy (name, city, country)
    • Your study course at home

    • Confirmation of enrolment in your home university for the length of your planned exchange studies,
    • Letter of your home university recommending your study year abroad,
    • Letter of endorsement by the corresponding Faculty of the University of Würzburg (you can first contact your  programme coordinator in the faculty);
    • Transcript of Records;
    • Proof of German language (at least B2)
      and / or
      proof of English language (TOEFL iBT 80 / IELTS 7,0)
    3. Online registration

    After having received all the above mentioned documents, we will send you the link for online registration.

    Further notes for Free Movers
    • While studying at our university, you are allowed to attend classes and lectures and receive credits, but no Bachelor / Master degree
    • You cannot apply for a dorm of „Studentenwerk”
    • You will have to pay 200 € for the intensive language course of the Centre for Languages (4 weeks in March / September; 5 hours daily). The language courses during the semester are free of charge.
