Würzburg and its Environs

The city of Würzburg is situated in the Lower Franconia (Unterfranken) region of Northern Bavaria, framed by three low-mountain ranges – Spessart, Rhön, and Steigerwald. Its population is 135,000. Nearly 30,000 of these residents are students, and this is what keeps Würzburg young and lively. There is much to discover here!

Accommodation may be booked on-line. The municipal Tourist Information Center offers a wide range of services. And even more numerous are the cultural and traditional events, the festivals and the other highlights of the city's annual life.

Verkehrsverbund Mainfranken, the regional transit authority and public transportation network, operates stretcar and bus lines that will help you get around the city, or it will take you outside city limits, into the environs of Würzburg and especially to the picturesque wine-growing villages along the banks of the River Main.

News and more detailed information may be found on the city website (Homepage der Stadt Würzburg), which also features an interactive city map.
